About me
I am a front-end website developer and producer based in Auckland, New Zealand.
I currently operate my own website business Stomp Box, and also regularly contract to digital studios, advertising agencies and other businesses.
Having worked as web developer, designer and producer and combinations of all three, I now work predomintenly in the front-end space. This is an exciting area currently, with the mobile web explosion and emerging technologies such as HTML5 and CSS3.
Whilst I have worked on numerous custom development projects, I have acquired considerable experience in working with open-source content management systems and software. I have done lots of integration and templating for CMS and other web applications, and often provide consultation and advice on solutions and technology feasibility.
I am reliable, accurate and professional. A creative thinker, with a technical mind. Six years as a music production engineer taught me to trust my instincts and be confident in my decision-making. I pride myself on being efficient and methodical and I have excellent written and verbal communications skills along with good analytical abilities.

Skills and Experience
Front-end developer
I specialize in HTML, CSS and JavaScript development. Where ever possible I write standards-compliant, well-formed, SEO-friendly code and I have extensive knowledge of usability and accessibility best-practices in web design and front-end engineering. I am fluent with both the jQuery and Mootools JavaScript APIs. I am also fully-conversant with emerging technologies such as HTML5 and CSS3.
Server-side development
I have intermediate proficiency with PHP scripting. I am familiar with the concepts of object-oriented programming and relational database systems – along with XML and Web Services etc. I have some server admin and configuration experience also, Windows and Linux. So, I work well alongside programmers, integrating with and building templates in PHP. I also have some experience with ColdFusion and ASP.NET.
Content Management Systems
I have experience with the following CMS platforms: WordPress, Expression Engine, SiteFinity and TeamSite.
Producer / Project manager
I have produced websites, micro-sites and EDM campaigns – large and small. I am confident working with clients, stake-holders and teams to organise, plan and execute website production projects. I have experience writing project scopes, business requirements, technical specifications and working with project management applications such as BaseCamp. I have excellent written and verbal communication skills, experience with QA and testing, and in-depth knowledge of all aspects of the production process.
WordPress
I am a WordPress expert. I have extensive experience building business websites using this platform, as well as more traditional blog sites. In particular I provide development, training, support and hosting services to clients using WordPress. I also have lots of experience customising and extending WordPress and carrying out security and performance optimisations.
Audio and video editing and publishing for the web
I have extensive experience compiling, editing and publishing video for the web. I also have over six years experience in the pro-audio industry and I've been playing with audio and video on computers since it first became possible to do so!
